Time Warner Cable

   I hate Time Warner. I bought the new dual tuner Series 3 TIVO about a year and a half ago just when it first came out.  It was $1000.00 but I love TIVO and had to have it. The unit only works if you have cable TV and I did.  The cable company has to provide you with cable cards to run these units and at first Time Warner had us up and running.  That lasted until the new version of cable cards came out and they claimed they couldn’t make them work. The FCC is supposed to fine them or something if they don’t provide these cards, but nothing has happened so far.

     Time Warner Cable's Raleigh division responded to a recent customer inquiry on the matter by stating that "Time Warner Cable of Raleigh does not provide support for, or allow TiVo devices on our cable network. Cablecards will only be installed on cable-ready, Cablecard-slot-available television sets." Federal regulations concerning Cablecards states that they must provide them, but they don’t have any intention of doing so.  We’ve called them about our problem here in Texas a few (hundred) times and they just tell us they still don’t have any cable cards, while I’m out $1000 for a useless TIVO box.
